Back to normal this week. I was going to review the rest of DesertFest but to be honest, I can’t be bothered and there’s loads of other people out there doing it much better than I can so I’ll just go back to what I do best; finding amazing new music.
Here is this week’s selection.
The Golden Grass
Recently included on a Heavy Psych Sounds records 4-way split EP alongside Killer Boogie, Wild Eyes and Banquet, The Golden Grass – like much of the Heavy Psych Sounds roster – have a nice line is 70’s-influenced acid/psych blues rock.
Two-piece grunge riot grrrl sister duo from Oklahoma made up of Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse. For fans of Hole, Babes in Toyland and Deap Vally.
Minneapolis all-girl garage-punk three piece.
Jeremy Irons and the Ratgand Malibus
Chilled out grooves from Sweden, the second home of stoner rock.
Rootsey, traditional Americana from this Oklahoma singer songwriter. For fans of Michelle Shocked and Cowboy Junkies.
Electronic pop-perfection that it’s okay to be a fan of, Grimes unleashes this colourful video for track two of her recent ‘Art Angels’ long-player.
Stooges-esque Birmingham rock ‘n’ roll/garage-rock three-piece release a new video ahead of their debut album due out at the end of May.
She Makes War
The video for the new song from Laura Kidd aka She Makes War containing crisp vocals over grungy guitars that hark back to the riot grrrl days of Echobelly and Republica.

KHOST [Deconstructed And Reconstructed By] GODFLESH
Having recently seen both Godflesh and JK Flesh at the recent DesertFest in London, I’ve become much more of a fan of the works of Justin Broadrick. Here we find him working his remix magic on two tracks by Khost. The EP can be bought from the Coldspring web store.
